Final Verdict
So, as we saw, after winning the toss, Sri Lanka decided to bat first, and this decision was very good for them. They batted first and gave a very good performance. Many players of Sri Lanka contributed here, due to which they were able to stand at a very good score.
First of all, Pathum Nissanka played an amazing innings of 65 runs. Along with him, Kushal Mendis made a very good contribution to his team by scoring 54 runs. Another player,Janith Liyanage, also gave a very good performance and scored a very good total for his team by playing an excellent innings. In total, Sri Lanka, while batting first, set a target of 290 runs and lost eight wickets.
After this, when New Zealand’s team came to bat, a different game happened here. People thought that since New Zealand had already won the first two matches, they would win this match very easily as well. But this did not happen at all.
Apart from New Zealand’s only player, Mark Champa, who played an innings of 81 runs, no other batsman could perform well. All were out at 10, 15, or 17 runs. The New Zealand team could only make an innings of 150 runs and was all out in 29.4 overs.
It must have been a long time since a team like Sri Lanka defeated New Zealand so badly. But this happens in cricket. Any player can give such a performance at any time and turn the match around at any moment.
